Kathy Drungilas paints the landscape en plein air as often as weather permits, but her home studio is in Mesa, Arizona. Fascinated with sketching from a young age, Kathy’s earliest works were done in pen and ink.
Always an avid nature lover, Kathy has painted landscapes and still life scenes in both oils and pastels. Though she loves the textures and handling of oils, pastel, with its brilliant colors and ease of application is more often her medium of choice. Involved for over a decade with the MidAmerica Pastel Society and a former President, she actively promotes the medium of pastel to others. Kathy is also a member of the Arizona Pastel Artists Association.
Kathy has painted extensively in the Southwest, Mexico, the West Coast and in the Midwest. Although a self-taught artist, she has studied with noted artists, Bob Tommey, CAA, William Scott Jennings, OPA, Jan Meyer, PSA, Donna Aldridge, PSA, MAPS, and Lorenzo Chavez, PSA, OPA. She is currently studying portraiture with Jean Hildebrant in Arizona.
Kathy has exhibited in many art shows across the country including: Buttonwood Art Space, Kansas City, MO where she managed the art gallery for five years, RG Endres Gallery, Prairie Village, KS, Ghost Ranch, Abiquiu, NM, the Panhandle Art Center in Amarillo, TX, Gladys Woods Kemper Center for the Arts at Wiliam Woods University, Kansas State University, Allen Fieldhouse, Lawrence, KS and more. Kathy’s paintings are found in private and corporate collections around the United States.
